Welcome to the 12th Edition of the Eco- Schools Magazine. As we wind up what has been one of the most difficult years, we ought to be thankful that we are still breathing. We should also take a moment to remember the thousands of lives that have been lost through the pandemic and the countless lives whose livelihoods have been dependant on the deceased. It is also the same year that saw the ugly realities of racial injustices in America which unveiled the true colours of racial injustice perpetrated by the US Police Department – which is supposed to be the custodian of the law. Large tracts of the Amazon were razed to ash, wild fires continued their toll in California and on the top of Mount Kirimanjaro in Tanzania.

As we count our losses, we also need to do a Soul Searching to come up with solutions on how we can avoid the occurrence of such problems in future. What is certain for sure is that, we are going to see more of such problems occurring. But the question is, how are we prepared to stop them? Covid 19 has for instance exposed how fragile our health systems are and how we badly need to facilitate our medical resource personnel.

Its never too late, we just need a plan and get started. In remembrance of all lives lost this year, lets all plant a tree. Let this year be a learning experience for all of us and remember to always be the change that you wish to see in the World.
